We got our start raising awareness of AdBlock software and how it harms website owners, though we also recognize that some advertisers use such horrible techniques that fighting back with adblocking software is inevitable. The ever escalating battle between advertisers and ad blockers is an arms race that poses serious risks. All it takes is for a major browser to come bundled with agressive ad blocking technology for the economy that supports much of the Internet to be turned on its ear. We’re raising awareness, seeking compromise and alternatives to prevent such an event.

If you are well aware of adblocking software that you may have installed or are thinking about installing on your computer, then we encourage you to read and participate in some of the discussions that go on here about the subject of adblocking.

If you are a developer of adblocking software and browser plug-ins, we recognize what you’re doing and why. We hope that you keep things in perpspective and help keep this from being an arms race. Nobody wins an arms race.

If you are a website owner, large or small, we implore you to do your part to clean up the web. Be conscious of the types and amounts of advertising you put on your website. Give users a reason to NOT need adblocking software, as when they block one site, others get caught in the net. Like Spam, your actions affect everyone.

• We are against hidden and aggressive adblocking that indiscriminately blocks a wide list of criteria
• We are against annoying and bloated ads, pop-ups, pop-unders, and of course spam and spyware. Annoying is impossible to define, but we think we know it when we see it.
