If you are a webmaster or website owner, you probably know that users may be blocking your advertisements with software and browser plug-ins. Did you also know that some users are using ad blocking software without even knowing it?

Also take into consideration the user perspective and how advertisements can be annoying or even cause performance issues on the end user’s system when loaded up with Flash and large creative.

Updated 10 Sept 2004. Norton Internet Security 2004 has ad blocking turned on by default. One of the ways that NIS attempts to block ads is that they block link tags that contain text that matches any entry in a long list of targeted text and words. See the sites that NIS blocks…and doesn’t block.
